Anyone who knows me, can tell you I prefer homemade cleaners over commercial products. I think this product is one of the few exceptions. I purchased this from Whink directly through their website along with a product I was still thrilled to see available (that will be a future review item).
I purchased the coffee pot cleaner for automatic drip machines, but they also offer an all natural cleaner as well.

They offer the product in two sizes, a 6 oz bottle and a 10 oz bottle. I purchased the 10 oz bottle.
Now, I had just cleaned my coffee pot maybe 2 weeks ago using the vinegar method, but I was still floored at how much gunk and residue that had built up in my coffee pot during those two weeks.

Seriously, how gross is that! And I had just cleaned it!
The directions for the product were pretty simple. You add 1 tablespoon of the cleaner per cup capacity to the carafe of your coffee maker, then fill with the rest of the way with water. My coffee maker makes 12 cups of coffee, so I added 12 tablespoons of cleaner and filled the carafe with water and ran it through my machine. You saw the yuckiness the cleaner removed from inside my machine. After you run the cleaner through, you will then want to run through 3 full carafes of just plain water.
I have to say that it was love at first taste of fresh coffee after the cleaning process. My coffee tasted better, my machine was quieter, and brewed my coffee much quicker than it was before I ran the cleaner through.
It is recommended that you clean your coffee maker out once a month, so this cleaner is definitely being added to my beginning of month chore list.
Yes, I am a dork and have one, though I admit that I don't always follow it. This will be a definite item to do the beginning of every month though, seeing how coffee seems to be my life force some days. If you wish to purchase their coffee maker cleaner, you can find it HERE .
When was the last time you cleaned your coffee maker? What is your favorite cleaner?
Happy cleaning!
Danielle
