Waverly being my first grandbaby, I had to make her something a little special. I decided to make her a quilt.
I made the quilt out of fleece material for the front and back. I used a solid peachy colored fleece for the back. The front is made of 6" squares of fleece in a light pink, dark pink, light purple and dark purple. I also put batting between the fleece layers to make sure it was nice and warm for her.
I sewed the squares together to make rows of 9 squares across. There were a total of 12 rows that I sewed together to create the front of the quilt. I took the peachy fleece and put it down, pretty side on the outside (though fleece mainly doesn't seem to have a right or wrong side to me), put the batting on top (I picked the batting up at Walmart for a crib size quilt), then put the front piece on top pretty side up.
I evened out all the sides as best as I could, then bound the quilt in white satin binding. This was the very first quilt I ever made and only the 2nd time I have used binding. Overall, I am happy with how the quilt turned out and I know she will use it for many years.
